Why Convert PDF to Word?

PDF files are great for sharing but not for editing. Converting to Word gives you full control to edit, modify, and repurpose your content. Learn why thousands of users choose our converter.

Unlock Locked Content

PDFs are designed to be read-only, but sometimes you need changes. Our converter extracts all text and places it into an editable Word document.

Edit Text and Formatting

Change fonts, resize text, adjust margins, add or remove paragraphs—all the editing power of Microsoft Word. Fix typos, update info, or restructure entirely.

Repurpose Existing Content

Don't waste time retyping content from old PDFs. Extract text from reports or documents and use it in new projects. Copy paragraphs or entire sections instantly.

Create New Document Versions

Need to update a contract or revise a proposal? Convert the original PDF to Word, make your changes, and export a fresh PDF with updated content.

Run Spell Check and Grammar Tools

Word's built-in spell checker and grammar tools don't work on PDFs. Convert to Word to catch errors and polish your document before sharing.

Add Comments and Track Changes

Collaborate using Word's commenting and revision tracking features. Convert the PDF, add feedback, and share for review and approval workflows.

Text Extraction

From read-only to fully editable in seconds.

PDFs were designed to preserve document formatting across devices—but that same protection makes them nearly impossible to edit. Every time you need to change a single word, you're stuck re-creating the entire document from scratch.

Our PDF to Word converter changes that. We extract the text content from your PDF while preserving the structure, then rebuild it as a native Word document. The result is a .docx file you can open in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or any compatible editor.

Perfect for contracts, reports, and forms.

Legal contracts need a clause updated. Financial reports require new quarterly figures. Application forms need current information. These are everyday tasks that become frustrating when the source document is a locked PDF.

Convert these PDFs to Word and make the necessary changes directly. Update dates, swap names, revise numbers, or add entirely new sections. When you're done, export back to PDF for sharing—or keep it in Word for ongoing revisions.

Convert privately without uploading anywhere.

Many online PDF converters require you to upload your files to their servers. That's a problem when you're working with confidential contracts, sensitive financial documents, or proprietary business information.

IMG FLY processes your PDFs entirely in your browser. The conversion happens locally on your device using JavaScript—your files never leave your computer. Close the tab and everything disappears. Perfect for legal documents, HR files, and any sensitive content.

Frequently asked questions.

Our converter reads your PDF file and extracts all text content using PDF.js, an open-source library. It then reconstructs this text into a properly formatted Word document using the docx library. The entire process runs in your browser—no server uploads required.
We preserve the text content and basic paragraph structure. Complex layouts with multiple columns, images, tables, or special fonts may not convert perfectly. The goal is to give you editable text—you may need to adjust formatting in Word after conversion.
If your PDF requires a password to open, you'll need to enter that password first or remove the protection before conversion. Our converter cannot bypass PDF security features. If the PDF opens normally but has editing restrictions, conversion should still work.
Scanned PDFs contain images of text, not actual text data. Our converter extracts embedded text—it won't recognize text from scanned images. For scanned documents, you need an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tool first, or try our JPG to Word converter which includes OCR.
We recommend PDFs up to 50MB and documents with reasonable page counts for optimal browser performance. Very large PDFs with hundreds of pages may take longer to process or could exceed your browser's memory limits. For massive documents, consider splitting them first.
Completely. Your PDFs are processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded to any server. We have no access to your files, and nothing is stored or transmitted. When you close the browser tab, all data is gone. This makes our converter safe for confidential and sensitive documents.
